The Architecture of What Comes Next: Navigating What Endures, What Changes, and What We Shape Together
Architecture is crossing multiple thresholds at once. Shifts in climate, technology, demographics, health, economics, and public expectations are reshaping the business and profession of architecture. These shifts are also challenging practitioners to decide what should endure, what must change, and how they will participate in what comes next. Using systems thinking, foresight, and examples from across the built-environment ecosystem, this session will explore these interconnected transitions and their implications for architecture. Participants will apply a four-question framework to clarify the transitions facing architecture, distinguish enduring values from outdated practices, and define their own responsibility for shaping what comes next.
