Brick has long been valued for its durability, longevity, and timeless aesthetic, but traditional brick veneer assemblies can present challenges related to weight, moisture management, thermal performance, and installation. This course examines the evolution of brick wall construction and explores how modern, mechanically attached brick rainscreen systems address these challenges. Participants will learn how ventilated cavities, continuous insulation, air and moisture barriers, and dedicated drainage work together to improve building-envelope performance. The course also reviews system components, attachment methods, design flexibility, structural considerations, and installation approaches while demonstrating how lightweight brick rainscreen assemblies can provide the appearance and durability of traditional masonry with improved water management and thermal performance.
