Speaker Bio
Colby’s career in design began prior to graduation as a research assistant at the Florida Center for Community Design & Research, where he worked as part of a multidisciplinary team facilitating community engagement and developing master and vision plans. Since graduating, Colby has worked as a project designer on industrial, commercial, and residential projects across North and South Carolina, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
In his current role, he focuses primarily on projects within the senior living industry. Colby holds both a Master of Architecture and a Master of Urban and Community Design from the University of South Florida. He is actively involved in his local AIA chapter and volunteers each summer with Community Design Studio’s Leadership by Design program, a design-thinking camp for high school students in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Colby is committed to using the design process to challenge conventional thinking and shape better connected communities. As both an urban and architectural designer, he approaches each project through a people-centered design lens.
