Growing up, did you know a kid who was smart, but school was a struggle? Maybe you were that kid, or you are now a parent to that kid. What is it about school that makes it difficult for some students to thrive, or even survive? Today, most K-12 design efforts focus on solutions that work for neurotypical students. However, neurodivergent students are a significant part of a student body in a general education environment. This course explores the prevalence, types and characteristics of neurodivergent learners in K-12 environments and explores design strategies to help support these students.
