Hand drawing is arguably architecture's oldest 'technology'. We currently sit at the threshold of an artificial intelligence tsunami in architectural visualization. Drawing from work spanning the forty year career of one of the nation's top architectural illustrators, this session explores the continuing relevance and value of hand drawing in the age of AI and how understanding the overlap of drawing, design and storytelling can profoundly influence the power and effectiveness of an architectural illustration. This presentation offers visually rich evidence of a more holistic way of both thinking about and executing architectural imagery�not just drawing for illustration, but drawing toward a more targeted, purposeful, and story-driven outcome � one uniquely suited to hand drawing.
