Speaker Bio
Lori Garrett is President and Senior Principal at Glavé & Holmes, where for more than three decades she has shaped enduring places that elevate the human experience. Specializing in the design of new buildings and the thoughtful renewal of historic structures for colleges and universities, she creates environments that inspire learning, foster community, and honor each institution’s heritage. Intrigued by mathematical patterns and their influence on visual beauty and human organization, Lori drew on her undergraduate studies in art and mathematics as a foundation for her architectural career—a perspective that continues to inform her work today. Her campus projects across the Mid-Atlantic embody a contextual approach that moves beyond functional requirements to translate a client’s mission, history, and values into architectural form. The first recipient of the AIA’s Women in Architecture and Design Leadership Award, Lori is recognized for her excellence, creativity, and initiative within the profession. Her passion for design is matched by her dedication to the collaborative process, working closely with clients and colleagues to achieve exceptional results. A frequent speaker at conferences and workshops, she has led projects that have earned national, regional, and local design awards.
