Jeffrey G Butts, Jr. is a world-traveled architectural design professional based out of Norfolk, Virgina working for Hanbury where he has received multiple design awards. Having graduated from Howard University with a professional Bachelor of Architecture degree, his first job out of college was abroad in Bangalore, India where he worked for an architecture and design firm for nearly five years. While working in India, Jeffrey founded Paramorphous, an art and design collective and was featured in popular publications for his two notable art exhibitions “[Un]Wrapture” in 2014 and for “Myself Mohan” in 2016, respectively. After returning home stateside in 2016, Jeffrey joined the dedicated minds of Hanbury, then Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas and Company, where he quickly began serving his local AIA Hampton Roads, now AIA Coastal Virginia, and reignited the local Young Architects Forum (YAF). Among his many accolades in service, his YAF committee was awarded the AIA College of Fellows Component Grant to fund the first-ever “YAFCON” micro-conference for emerging professionals during AIA Virginia’s Architecture Exchange East in 2018. That same year, Jeffrey was appointed as the AIA Regional Associate Director of the Virginias Region—within the AIA National Associates Committee, for a two-year term. In 2020, Jeffrey helped form the committee that went on to co-found VANOMA. Jeffrey’s story continues to be written, serving his local community, and letting the Most High God guide his path.
