Christopher Lee Gordon is a founding principal and Co-President of KGD. He is continually sought after as a resource and leader in housing design, and he is passionate about answering the urgent call for creating vibrant housing in urban communities. Chris’ comprehensive approach and leadership, from concept through operations, shape high-performance buildings, elevating places, transforming lives, and creating homes for people. Throughout his career, Chris has been featured as an industry expert on panels for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and various housing associations, sharing his expertise in affordable housing through a regional and national lens. He also served on a county task force that designed standards for the new Form Based Code overlay along a three-mile corridor at Columbia Pike in Arlington, Virginia.
For nearly 30 years, Chris has been building with his partners a collaborative practice – Kishimoto.Gordon.Dalaya PC (KGD Architecture – committed to design excellence, resulting in innovative projects informed by sustainable design principles and making a difference in the lives of their users. Overall, Chris has 39 years of experience in all facets of architecture for a variety of project types. His first-hand experience extends from urban mixed-use developments that include multifamily, office, hospitality, retail and structured parking to secured corporate facilities in both base building and interiors. Most notably, he was the Principal-in-Charge of The Springs residential complex in Ballston, Virginia; the renovation and repositioning of an iconic office tower at 3100 Clarendon Boulevard in Arlington, Virginia; and two national award-winning projects noted for their positive transformative impact in redeveloping sites for the new Queens Court and Centro Arling-ton housing communities, both in Arlington, Virginia.
Chris is a registered architect in the District of Columbia, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia, and he holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech.
