Jori Erdman, AIA, NOMA, is an architect and educator whose work centers on resilience, sustainability, and the cultural impact of architecture. She is Professor of Architectural Design and Associate Director of the School of Art, Design and Art History at James Madison University. Previously, she was a founding member of the Coastal Sustainability Studio at Louisiana State University, an interdisciplinary research initiative focused on coastal resilience in the Gulf region. Erdman has authored numerous publications, including chapters in Designing Resilience in Asia and Sustainable Coastal Design and Planning. Her co-authored book, Sustainable Pathways for Mississippi Delta Restoration, united designers, scientists, and engineers in a collaborative study of the delta. Current projects include a book on Duvall Decker Architects, co-chairing the 2025 CERF Student Design Competition, and service on the AIA Central Virginia Board, the AIA Virginia Outreach Committee, and the U.S. Architects Declare Social Justice Advisory Group.
