In this session, we are trying to introduce a new approach for the future expansion of data center footprint in the built environment. La Dati Ghiacciaia, or "The Data Icehouse," attempts to achieve the world's first net-zero data center concept and a direct response to the emerging trends and requirements of the industry. Decentralization, integration, and sustainability were the drivers for this concept, attempting to define a template for the future approach to the vast development of data centers. Our solution repurposes Italy’s abandoned nuclear bunkers, blending them with publicly accessible spaces to shape a technology hub piazza as the central point of development for the future community and providing shared infrastructure as a sustainable driver for attracting future residents.
