Gaining experience has always been an integral part of an aspiring architect’s path to licensure, though how that experience is gained and documented has changed over time. In this session, we’ll do a deep dive into the current Architectural Experience Program (or AXP) reporting requirements. Topics include experience areas and tasks, how experience reporting has changed, and what candidates and supervisors should look for in reporting and approving AXP hours. Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate examples of candidates’ time spent on tasks and determine which experience area each should be reported under. We’ll tie it all together with an overview of how the AXP fits into a candidate’s licensure journey, and how their experience hours can set them up for success on the AREs and in earning their initial license.
