An associate in VMDO’s DC Office, Michael Spory is assisting the DC Department of General Services and Department of Parks and Recreation with Stead Park Recreation Center – a modernization and addition to a historic carriage house that will be the first net-zero community center in the District. Michael is also guiding the design-build of the new Marlow Heights Community Center in Maryland, which has implemented an extensive engagement process to maximize local resources and transform community programming.
Michael has served as the Associate Director for the AIA Virginia Board of Directors, representing young design professionals across the Commonwealth, and is currently chairing the planning committee for the 2024 AIA VA Design Forum. He was a member of the 2017 class of AIA Virginia’s Emerging Leaders in Architecture (ELA), an honors program exposing emerging architects to post-education professional development, including communication, firm leadership, collaborative practice, and community advocacy.
